Dr. Carina Eriksen MSc CPsychol DPsych FBPsS BABCP acc

Dr Carina is a HCPC Registered and BPS Chartered Consultant Counselling psychologist with extensive experience consulting in clinical and organisational settings in the UK and Europe. She is a Fellow of the British Psychology Society, a board member at the BPS Aviation Psychology Committee and a trainer/presenter of the BPS Continuing Professional Development Course in Aviation Psychology.

Carina is a highly skilled cognitive behavioural therapist having obtained a post doctorate qualification at the institute of psychiatry. Carina is also trained in Systemic Therapy, Brief Solution Focused Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, Person-Centred Therapy, EMDR and Schema Therapy. She believes that each person is unique and enjoys tailoring therapy to suit the individual needs of clients.

Carina has a wide range of experience with various psychological problems including: worry and anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder, panic, depression, fear and phobia, work stress, health anxiety, social anxiety and shyness, sleep disorders, eating disorders, body image disorders, low self-esteem, adjustment difficulties, ADHD, behavioural difficulties, parental guidance, career transitions and work related concerns, drug and alcohol misuse, relationship problems, health related concerns, sexual health problems, adult and childhood traumas.

She works with adults, adolescents, children, couples and families. Carina has a broad experience of various mental health settings both in the NHS and for private organisations. In the NHS, she used to be a cluster lead psychologist at the South West London and St George’s Mental Health Trust managing clinical and counselling psychologists, CBT therapists and psychotherapists. Carina is a BPS Registered Supervisor. She has also worked as a member of an NHS crisis team, a community mental health team and a day hospital.

Carina has BPS recognised training in the use of psychometric testing which is ideal for her work in the organisational setting including career development, staff selection and training.

Carina has a background in the aviation industry. She offers assessment and treatment to pilots, airline managers, cabin crew and other aviation worker’s. Carina and her colleagues provide a unique assessment and treatment service for people who have a fear of flying. They also offer a bespoke tailor made service to the airline industry which includes setting up and running pilot peer support programmes as well as workshops and seminars on assessing and treating mental health problems in the aviation industry. Carina consults to St Pauls Junior school for boys and she works with several British and International schools in London.

Carina is an author and a co-author of several books and her work has been published in scientific journals. She is actively involved in research with a specific interest in the topic of anxiety, panic, stress, fear of flying and the psychological effects of physical health problems. Carina and her colleagues are often invited to present these topics at conferences in the UK and abroad.
